TIMMINS MIXED FUN PITCH
RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Play Fair & Have Fun

2. Each team must have a minimum of 12 players (no maximum) on its roster. The final team roster and registration fee are to be submitted on a date decided by executive.

3. Players must be 18 years of age or older.

4. Each game will consist of 5 innings.

5. Team members on the field must consist of a maximum of 5 men.

6. Teams must have at least 8 players to play a scheduled game at game time.

7. Home team must:
a) supply a new regulation soft ball ( 12" league approved).
b) Mark the half-way lines between the bases.
c) Mark the line extending from Home Plate to the back screen in line with 1st base.
d) Install the bases ( first game) and / or remove bases ( last game).

8. Score sheets: Each team must keep their own score, and compare score sheets with opposing team. Coaches must initial one another's score sheet at the end of the game. Winning team is responsible for announcing the final score to the media is they wish publication. Winning team must fax score sheets at 264-6324.

9. Rubber cleats only are allowed.

10. Games will be played at Bozzer 1, McLellan, Whitney, Ross Beattie and Del Villano ballparks. Game times are 6:15 p.m., 7:30., and 8:45 p.m. A new Inning is not permitted to start 5 minutes prior to next game i.e. 7:25 is too late to start another inning.

11. No bunting is allowed.

12. No tagging or sliding; FORCE OUT play only ( the ball must reach the base before the player). If a runner is tagged, he/she will not be out. Once the runner's foot touches or crosses the half way line between the bases, the runner must advance to the next base. If a fly ball fair or foul is caught the batter is out, base runners can return to their bases or tag up and advance to the next base. No overrunning any base but 1st. If you overrun 2nd and 3rd base, you can be forced out or choose to advance to the next base with chance again of being forced out. Once the ball is thrown to the pitcher, runners can not advance. If a fly ball is caught and the base runner has touched or crossed the line, he/she is out, with the exception of the base runner tagging the base after the fair fly ball is caught and preceding to the next base. If a fair ball hits a player running off the bases, runner is out. If player remains on base and is hit, player is not out.

13. The same people who field must bat during the same inning. Batting order is:
Male/female/male etc., or vice versa. At no time will there be 2 consecutive male batters. Only instance would be if team has 5 men, 3 women, 2 males would have to bat at the beginning of the line-up. No double batting is allowed is a team is short of players. A team must start and finish an inning with the same number of players on the field.

14. No switch-hitting. The batter must approach Home Plate from the same side which he/she will bat. If the batter changes sides once fielders are in position, he/she will automatically be out. Batter must bat from the same side for that inning.

15. The teams own pitcher will pitch only 3 pitches to each player. If the ball is not hit fairly in three pitches, then the batter is out. If the pitcher interfere with the play, the batter is automatically out. If the ball hits the pitcher accidentally, a strike is counted. If a strike is counted on third pitch, the batter is out.

16. Last Batter:
a) The team at bat must announce its last batter to the catcher. If they fail to do so, the batter is out and the inning is over.
b) When the last batter hits the ball, all players are free to run all of the bases until the Catcher ONLY forces out the play at Home Plate.
c) If the last batter hits a fly-ball fair, the runner must tag up before running to Home Plate.
d) The Catcher only forces out the play at Home Plate for all ten batters. Only one other player is permitted behind Home Plate and the Catcher MUST end the play. If more than one player is behind the Catcher and the runner has crossed the hog line to home, the runner gets the run.
e) If the last batter hits a foul ball on his 3rd attempt at bat, the inning is over.

17. If a tipped-ball is caught, regardless of the height, the batter is automatically out.

18. During the same inning, the infield rover (defensive pitcher) and the infielders must stay within the dirt until the ball is in play, unless due to an injury; while the outfield may move around. Outfielders must stay on the grass until the ball is hit. All players must remain in their respective positions.

19. Questionable calls will be discussed by the team representatives only and settled with a flip of a coin preferably between the above mentioned players. A flip of the coin is not allowed on a rule - questionable play only. All controversies must be handled prior to the next pitch.

20. Courtesy Runners: Three courtesy runners ( male or female) will be allowed per Game. Additional courtesy runners will be allowed only if the player running is injured. The last batter ( available) will be the courtesy runner ( male for male, female for female).

21. No alcoholic beverages allowed in the baseball Park at any time.

22. Weather Conditions: Games are not to be played when there is lightning in the area, regardless of rain or not. If weather conditions are questionable, Team Reps must contact one another and decide whether to play or reschedule the game. If the game is rescheduled, the Home Team must contact the league. If unfavourable weather conditions interrupt a game, the game will be considered played after 3 complete innings. Final score will be counted from the last complete inning. However, if 3 innings were not completed the game will be replayed at a later date. The Home Team is responsible again to advise the league if game must be rescheduled.

23. The Catcher is responsible for calling a foul ball.

24. An incoming runner must cross the scoring line extending from Home Plate in order to score a run. If the runner touches the Home Plate, he/she is automatically out.

25. The ball must be thrown to the pitcher from an infielder, not thrown in from the outfield.

26. Jewellery is optional.

27. Any ball hit over the fence at all ball parks will be out. Exception:. Last batter or a female is a home run.

28. If at any time a ball is thrown and goes out of play, base runners get two bases from the time of the throw; with the exception of the last batter, it then becomes a home run.

29. Blood rule: All teams should have a First Aid Kit. Any cuts or scrapes that bleed must be completely covered if a player is to continue to play in a game. Players may be substituted if there is an injury.

30. If a fielding player comes in contact with a hit ball in foul territory, the ball is to be considered foul. If a fielding player comes in contact with a hit ball in fair territory, and the ball bounces into foul territory, the ball is fair.

31. Rules are based on the SPN rulebook. All Team Reps should have the SPN rule book. Our rules and regulations are exceptions to these rules.
